Management Options for Men with BRCA Mutations

Prostate cancer screening consisting of an annual digital rectal examination and serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests is recommended for males with BRCA mutations beginning between the ages of 40 and 50.

The risk of breast cancer in a man with a BRCA mutation is significantly higher than the average man and thus men are also encouraged to perform self breast examination and notify their physician if they detect a mass or abnormality.
